Don’t Despise The Day of Small Beginnings

Back in October, I had the amazing privilege of speaking to a room full of pastors about how they could start an ecommerce business to supplement their income. Even better I was able to bring my family along and spend some time at the beach making memories with our 4 year old.
Back when I was delivering furniture to our Craigslist customers I never could have imagined speaking to a room full of people about how to build a business or turning a trip like that into a vacation at the beach.
At the time I was driving all over the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex trying to build our business in order to support my wife and I. I had a dream to not have to go back to a regular job and the Lord blessed our little furniture business to make that possible.
But I can tell you that I wasn’t dreaming of ever being in front of a room full of people teaching how to build a business because I was just desperately trying to make our new venture work.
However, over a period of time, slowly and surely our business grew and the Lord brought new opportunities our way and my initial dream of not having to go back to a regular job turned into a much larger dream as my vision expanded and I saw what was possible.
I love where our business is now, but we would never have got here without all those Craigslist ads, furniture deliveries, carrying boxes up and down stairs, failed business ideas, ideas that worked for a while but we had to pivot out of, and lots of prayer and work.
Zechariah 4:10 says
“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.”
Enjoy your business journey. Don’t compare where you are to where someone else is. Your journey is unique. Just do the work….day after day, week after week and you will see progress.
But don’t do it alone. Coaching is the great accelerator. It shortcuts your success. Find a mentor, join a community, or both.
Where are you in your journey? How can I help you move forward?
